Most of the Christians are starting their new year with a promise to read the Bible every day. But sad to say only a few of them have reached that goal. In fact, there are others who prefer not to bother themselves with reading the Bible once in a lifetime. Perhaps you will never realize its worth, but the Bible is the most crucial book written in history. It is the words of God to let you understand the real meaning of life and godliness.

As his children, you are reliant on Scriptures, knowing and trusting this book is unfailing and incapable of being wrong through which Lord Jesus speaks to all his children. That reason alone will give you the knowing how important Sunday scripture readings to be the center of your worship services. You should sing it, preach it, and read it every Sunday.

As you see, reading the scriptures is not a requirement nor an obligation. This is something that will give you happiness and joy in life. It means you are trusting him with all your life. Standing in front of many people while reading the passage means standing in his holy place ad proclaims his holy words. And since all his words are crucial, church members have been establishing a certain ministry involving scripture readings.

This ministry is composed of people who are equipped and trained to read the Bible. This is considered as a teaching ministry. There are certain things to consider when teaching individuals who are interested in joining the ministry. This may serve as your guidelines in reading the scripture in public settings. This will assume that you are well prepared before reading it.

You have to understand each passage properly. Know and learn the proper genre, the tone, and its purpose for which it was written and made. Make sure to comprehend it properly. Determine if the passage is a poetic one, a persecution, or a meditative that reflects on pain.

If anyone has been tasked to read a specific passage, spend a few times in reading it to ensure you understand it. If this is not familiar to you and having a difficult time learning it, then it might be helpful to rely on other translations and research about it. If still unsure, ask someone who is experienced.

Once you understand certain things, you have to practice it. As you preach it, you try to understand its natural flow to ensure you learn the best ways in pronouncing the words. And because you will be preaching aloud, make sure to practice it loudly.

As you continue practicing, learn the words and phrases you need to highlight, look for natural places to pause and place where you need to decrease or increase volume. Your job is to comprehend what is in the scripture in a certain way that helps to understand without drawing attention. Be sure to practice those hard words so you will never hesitate to use them during services.

You need to prepare things prior to the service. Of course, the words of God deserve your effort. If you stumble and halt and mispronouncing the words, then it means you are not serving your brothers or sisters well. Basically, the bible is a foundation of reality that would teach you the history of everything.
